Dr. James (JT) Eckner, Associate Director for Research at the University of Michigan Concussion Center and a leader in applying Learning Health System (LHS) principles to concussion care, recently presented as part of the U-M Learning Health Systems Speaker Series.
Dr. Eckner is spearheading the development of the Concussion Learning Health System (C-LHS) at the Center. This initiative aims to create a continuous cycle of learning by integrating real world clinical data, patient outcomes, and research insights to improve concussion assessment, management, and recovery for athletes and patients across Michigan Medicine and beyond.
The presentation highlighted how collaborative, actor oriented approaches can harness the collective intelligence of clinicians, researchers, patients, and families to drive meaningful improvements in concussion care. It also emphasized practical strategies for building infrastructure that supports ongoing learning and the rapid translation of evidence into better patient outcomes.
