Karis Filipiak is currently a sophomore at the University of Michigan. Majoring in neuroscience on a pre-medical track, she’s pursuing a career in either neurology or psychiatry. Her goal is to learn more about the intersections between brain injuries and neurodegenerative diseases. Having had a concussion in the past, she has experienced the ignorance surrounding brain health. Because of this, she wants to spread awareness for the effects of brain injuries to ensure young athletes stay safe.
