Dr. Weissman is a professor of psychology, cognition & cognitive neuroscience at the University of Michigan, College of LS&A. He investigates how people cope with distraction, using a combination of behavioral, brain imaging, and patient-oriented techniques. His research interests include attention capture, inhibitory control, and task switching. Dr. Weissman is the director of the Attention and Cognitive Control Laboratory at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Weissman also serves as a co-faculty advisor to Carlin Pendell on a collaborative study between the Department of Psychology and Michigan Concussion Center entitled “Cognitive Control Among those with and without a Concussion History.”
